Transfer gossip: Pogba in shock Man United exit, Liverpool star to sign new deal, Man City prepare £200m summer spree

  • Tue, 17 Apr 2018 14:20

Here's a round-up of all the top football headlines and transfer-related gossip from Tuesday’s newspapers and online...

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is ready to let £89million signing Paul Pogba leave Old Trafford. The Portuguese is said to have run out of patience with the 25-year-old France star after a fractious season and added him to a list of players to be put on the market. (Daily Mail)

Meanwhile, the Red Devils have reportedly sent scouts to watch Lazio's Serbia midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, 23, with Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho reportedly wanting to sign two midfielders in the summer. (Daily Mail)

Manchester City are ready to reward Pep Guardiola for his Premier League success with £200million to spend in pursuit of further titles. It is claimed the likes of Jorginho of Napoli and Shakhtar Donetsk's Fred, Monaco forward Thomas Lemar and Leicester City playmaker Riyad Mahrez are on the Blues’ radar. (Daily Mirror)

However, all of the above could be kicked into the long grass by the outcome of a watchdog investigation into City's acquisition of youngster Benjamin Garre. City could be banned from registering players for the next two seasons if the Court of Arbitration for Sport sides with his former club, Velez Sarsfield, who claimed the Sky Blues acted unethically by approaching the Argentine when he was 15. (Daily Telegraph)

Meanwhile, City will also try and persuade Guardiola to sign a new contract to stay at the club until 2020. With one year left on his £15million-a-year, three-year contract City chiefs are set to hold talks with the 47-year-old at the end of the season over an extension. (The Times)

However, Guardiola is said to be disinclined on staying at any single club for an extended period of time. The Spaniard spent four years in charge at Barcelona and was then at Bayern Munich for three years before arriving in Manchester in 2016. (The Times)

Marcus Rashford is set to put off talks over a new Manchester United contract after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford. With two years left on his £70,000-a-week contract and an option to extend by 12 months, United chiefs are said to want to secure the 20-year-old's services on new terms. However, with Mourinho undoubtedly aiming to inject vigour into the Red Devils with some big signings over the summer, the forward faces being further overlooked. (The Sun)

Tottenham are ready to sell Belgium midfielder Mousa Dembele in the summer, and have identified two potential replacements for the 30-year-old who has been praised for his commanding performances for Spurs this season. (Daily Mirror)

Arsenal and Tottenham have suffered a transfer blow after Brazilian target Malcom said it would be a ‘dream’ to sign for Paris Saint-Germain. The 21-year-old Bordeaux forward has been strongly linked with both north London rivals, although a move to the Premier League over the summer is looking increasingly unlikely as his heart appears set on continental football. (beIN Sports)

Liverpool's 19-year-old defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has been rewarded with improved terms after racking up 28 first-team appearances for the Reds this season, and having impressed in the Champions League against Manchester City. (Daily Telegraph)

It is claimed the England Under-21 defender has committed his future to Liverpool and will sign a new deal which will see his wages double. (Daily Mirror)

Barcelona have joined the Reds in the race to sign £39million-rated Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet. (Football Talk)

In-demand teen star Ryan Sessegnon says he wants to play in the Premier League with Fulham, despite interest from several top-flight clubs. The 17-year-old has 14 goals and six assists for the Cottagers this season. (Evening Standard)

Wolves want to spend £20million to sign Benik Afobe and French defender Willy Boly - on loan at Molineux from Bournemouth and Porto respectively - following their promotion to the Premier League. (Daily Telegraph)

Aston Villa and Celtic are interested in 22-year-old Yeovil defender Tom James. (Bristol Post)

Former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Fernando Torres will snub interest from Chinese Super League clubs as he wants to move to the MLS when he leaves Atletico Madrid at the end of the season. (Marca)

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta will move to the Chinese Super League this summer, though, with two million bottles of wine reportedly part of the deal. (Marca)
